www.caricoos.orgCARICOOS is the Caribbean Coastal Ocean Observing System. This effort, funded by the NOAA IOOS office, is one of eleven coastal observing systems and regional associations which along with federal agencies constitute the national coastal component of the US Integrated Ocean Observing System. This web page brings together coastal ocean data and forecasts from a variety of sources including satellites, ocean instruments and numerical models to give the user an integrated view of past, present and forecasted ocean conditions in the US Caribbean region.

seagrantpr.orgThe Sea Grant Program at the University of Puerto Rico is an educational program dedicated to the conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal resources in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Caribbean region. Our mission is twofold: (1) to fund scientific research on the conservation and use of marine and coastal resources, and (2) to provide marine outreach services by applying knowledge generated from that research, and our expertise, towards confronting the problems that the communities of people who utilize marine and coastal resources face every day.

It is a multi-sector network of collaborators dedicated to promoting education and training for advancing sustainability in Puerto Rico, an island archipelago in the Eastern Caribbean. We support and engage in projects and activities that develop sustainability awareness and lead to concrete actions. Our partners represent diverse organizations, institutions and agencies working on sustainability issues throughout Puerto Rico including in municipalities around El Yunque National Forest, the San Juan Metropolitan Area, and other regional cities.

The SERCC is housed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was created in response to an assessment that identified various user needs for regional climate services in the Southeast.

USDA - Caribbean Climate Hub

They are led and hosted by the Agricultural Research Service and Forest Service located at ten regional locations, with contributions from many agencies including the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Farm Service Agency, and the Risk Management Agency. The Climate Hubs link USDA research and program agencies in their regional delivery of timely and authoritative tools and information to agricultural producers and professionals.

Here’s what you can expect from FEMA in each stage; Before a disaster, FEMA works across the country every day to help people and communities understand and prepare for possible risks; During a disaster, FEMA coordinates the federal response to disasters that receive a Presidential disaster declaration. They work closely with officials in states, Tribal Nations, and territories as they respond to disasters and make requests for federal support. After a disaster; FEMA supports state, local, tribal, and territorial government officials who are primarily responsible for managing their communities’ disaster recovery. This support includes providing recovery resources such as recovery roadmaps, community management toolkits, and a recovery and resilience resource library to facilitate whole community recovery. The FEMA Region 2 office, located in New York, NY, partners with federal emergency management for eight Tribal Nations and four states/territories.
